Webmaster's Notes:Vincent R Dombrowski, BM2c was received aboard the WWII Destroyer, USS Sigsbee
DD-502, February 2, 1943 at Brooklyn, NY from Receiving Station Long Beach, NY.
Vincent served aboard the USS Sigsbee through many battles in the Pacific Ocean
including Okinawa Gunto when the USS Sigsbee was struck by a Japanese Kamikaze
April 14, 1945. During WWII aboard the USS Sigsbee he earned the following Medals and
stars:
Asiatic Pacific - - 10 stars
American Area
Victory
Medal
Philippine Liberation - - 1 star.
Vincent was the second longest
crewman serving on the USS Sigsbee when Decommissioned, March 31, 1947. In the
Pacific, he occasionally came to the Gunners Shack, port side of after steering, to hear us
sing country songs and play the guitar. Vince was a friend, a very good shipmate
and admired by all who knew him.
Vincent R Dombrowski was buried November 16,1976 at Long
Island National Cemetery, Section R Site 2175 Farmingdale, NY.
